The early bird catches the worm... then crashes before noon.

I have been fortunate to have reasonably good sleepers for kids.  Apart from the first year, the occasional wake-up, illness, etc all my men sleep all night.

But every September they wake early.

Really early.

Really really early.

At the moment we all get to sleep until 5.20am, but I know that the closer we get to daylight saving time our wake-ups will be closer to the 5am mark.  Even earlier.

Only 9 more sleeps to go.

Or shall I say, only 9 more early wake-ups to go...

Have a great weekend.

When good kids go bad! {Week-a-Boo}

A busy weekend with a family function and Fathers' Day was spoiled by two bratty boys.

I lost count of the number of times Big Man and Little Man were sent to their rooms.

This happens every now and then: my gorgeous boys turn into something feral for a couple of days, before transforming back into their delightful selves.  It's Monday evening and the transformation is almost complete.  Hopefully by tomorrow morning the ferals will be all gone, never to return again (although this is wishful thinking - they will be back at least once, possibly twice, before Christmas).

Thank you Claire for sharing your Week-a-Boo with us each Monday.  I don't normally have time to blog on Mondays so it is wonderful that I have the opportunity to offer you all a peek into my weekend.  Hopefully it will be a more positive post next time...

Party Inspirations

With my Little Man about to turn 1 in just over 8 weeks time I am flat out planning my first ever dessert table.

Those of you who read my blog regularly would know that Mrs A in the Cove inspired me to start my blog in the first place.  Well, she (as well as many other fabulous women out there) have also inspired me to attempt my very first dessert table.

Now, I've always been one to put quite a bit of effort into my boys' parties, and it's always been a mad rush the day before, with a guaranteed meltdown (from me, not the kids) the night before the party.  So, it's needless to say that I am pretty overwhelmed with the whole thing.  (Confession: in the interest of the family budget I am trying to do everything myself.  Probably not the greatest idea, but we'll see how things go.)

I've found so many inspiring parties and dessert tables out there in the blogging world these past few months and I'd like to share some of my favourites with you today.

I am definitely using these for ideas and inspiration.

I must admit:
I'm having trouble planning where I am going to put things on the table.  I like 'balance' but I HATE symmetry.
I'm a little concerned that I may be using too many colours...

Any advice or pointers would be much appreciated.

And so, without further ado, here are my inspirational pics!

How amazing is this creation by Hayley Moss!!!

Stationary and craft ideas thanks to Cristina Re

Many ideas thanks to Tracey Lau

I just love these colours at The Party Studio

The Superhero and Safari parties are both from Hello Naomi

I love these apples holding up the cupcakes.  From No Fuss Fabulous

Hmmm, more synthetic grass and I love the shelf that is raising the cake in the back there.
I found this party featured on Hip Hooray

And I love this cutlery featured on Little Sooti

Last but not least, Mrs A's cake toppers, popcorn and party boxes.

Thank you ladies for the wonderful inspiration.  I've taken it all on board and hope I will do you all proud on 30th October.

Wish me luck...
